You know some car thing you have no reasonable way of knowing?
I was watching Columbo tonight and I wondered what this car was:
And just as I was about to post this as a question to Oppo, I figured: ' Huh, that might actually be a Toronado.'
Keep in mind that my knowledge in (older) American is quite slim and from what I recall, all I know about the Toronado is that it's FWD and that I saw a Jay Leno video about it several years ago. Hell, I don't think I've ever seen the rear of the car.

When Toronado was introduced in 1966 it got 3rd place in the European Car of the Year award. 36 years went past before next American car got in to the top three. Chevrolet Volt/Opel ampera won the award in 2012 and Tesla Model S was 3rd in 2014.
And if you wondering about it, Toronado was beaten by Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow (2nd) and Renault 16 (1st).

Renault 16
Yup that sounds about right for the mentality at that time.

Well, Who knew? (Besides you)

Renault 16 was pretty much the first "modern hatchback" in the market. The European press has really loved them since they appeared.

Hi, I'm a partner in a small company that produce and edit all the editorial content for online car, bike and culture magazine www.influx.co.uk.
This month we're producing a Finland special with our central film addressing the old motorsport cliche 'if you want to win, hire a Finn' and a bunch of other Finnish related stuff from an article on Valmet to original artwork based on Ari Vatanen's Peugeot.
We've recently started inviting contributions from a relevant guest blogger, Billy Bragg in Feb on Ford and Gary Inman last month on the Alt. Bike scene.
As an obvious expert on the Finnish scene would you be interested in being our guest blogger for our april Finnish edition?
If so we'd be looking for 250-500 words on any aspect Finnish motoring that you'd like to wax lyrical on.
If you're interested in contributing either reply here or contact me directly at neil@postfuel.co.uk
Thanks
